Why should you choose the best Sennheiser sport headphones over other brands?

Well, we all know that normal earphones don’t fit well while carrying out outdoor activities or working out.

The repeated nature of the way the buds fall out of your ears can be exasperating.

Finding the best product created by this brand may solve the problem. While there are some solid brands out there, accessories created by this manufacturer almost always impress with their incredible performance.

We’re also all aware of the popularity of Sennheiser within the music industry. This company places great importance on the delivery of wonderful sound quality through its products. This must mean that you want to listen to your music with perfect clarity and definition while taking part in sports or hitting the gym.

But they’ve created so many of these earphones! So how can you go about buying the best pair?

While this is true, there are only a few products suitable for buying for our intended use.

Sennheiser Sport Earbuds

After extensively researching a large number of products created by this company, the team has selected the top 5 sets available in 2018. These rankings have been constructed based on thorough study of some of the existing reviews provided by past customers and the consequent testing of the emerging top 5 products.

When it comes to earphones worn for exercising, the fit should always be the most important factor in your choice of a product. In fact, this should even overtake the sound quality. After all, how will you be able to enjoy your favourite songs if the buds keep popping out at the slightest of movements? The fact that the top 3 models have been created in collaboration with Adidas, one of the largest sports retailers definitely fills us with more confidence.

How much you’re willing to spend can also be very important. The good news is that there aren’t any standout expensive sets here. Most of these sets are quite affordable so you shouldn’t have any issues when it comes to your budget. You also get a generous 2 year manufacturer’s guarantee which is an added plus point.

Let’s quickly go through the top 5 pairs then!

Sennheiser CX 685 Sports

In my opinion, this pair of earphones is ideal for any form of sporting activity. The reason for this is discussed in this brief Sennheiser CX 685 review.

In terms of the fit, this model performs quite well due to the twist-to-fit design. On top of this, the design also incorporates a sort of a fin which fits into the outer part of the ear to further enhance the secure fit. You can then clip the wire onto your shirt to ensure that there isn’t any pulling force which can knock the buds out of your ears. Basically, if you’re planning to use these earbuds for a moderately paced run then they’ll stay in your ear securely. However, don’t expect anything more for explosive exercises.

As expected, the sound quality associated with this set is fantastic and will certainly be far superior to most earbuds within the same price range. Due to the establishment of the seal, the noise cancelling effect is quite good too.

The sweat- and water-resistant feature adds to the suitability of these earphones to pretty much every outdoor activity. Just make sure you don’t go swimming underwater because these are water-resistant not water-proof.

PMX 685i

The PMX 685is comprise of an in-ear style but these look different due to the neckband design. Don’t be alarmed by this as the neckband actually aids to the overall fit associated with this model. For this reason, you can be confident that this set will remain in your ears throughout most types of exercises. However, due to the neckband style, the buds may press into your ear and this can cause discomfort. Just bear in mind that this entirely depends on your head and ear shape. In general, if you’ve had problems with these types of earbuds before, I wouldn’t risk buying this one either.

The sound delivered by these PMX 685is is absolutely fantastic while the inclusion of the in line volume control provides a great degree of convenience. However, the buttons on this control are quite small and may be hard to press. On top of this, the “i” in the “685i” title of this product signifies the fact that the volume control will only work if you’re using these with apple products. This is slightly unfair for Android users and I’ve got no idea why the manufacturer has done this.

PMX 680

Just like the PMX 685is, the older PMX 680 version also comes in a neckband design. While the fit will be great during activities such as running, the same problem we talked about with the 685is remains. Depending on your ears, you may experience discomfort due to the pressure. This may indicate a design flaw when it comes to the PMX series.

Like most earphones created by this manufacturer, the sound quality is excellent. Furthermore, the entire product is well-built with quite a durable design. We also get an in line volume control which can work on every device the headphones are connected to and not just Apple products.

The PMX 680 is actually the costliest set in the top 5 list. For this reason, I would probably give this a miss.

PMX 70

Like the previous 2 sets we’ve just discussed, the PMX 70s are very similar when it comes to the design. You can definitely expect a durable and well-built set which will last you a long time. Unfortunately, an in line volume control hasn’t been incorporated into the design which can be quite inconvenient.

The neckband design will once again provide a fantastic fit but may lead to sore ears especially when used for a prolonged period of time. I’d imagine this will occur much quicker when you consider the running motion while wearing this set. The entire around-the-ear design is bulky and non-adjustable which will add to your worries. If you’ve never had any problems with ear fatigue or you’re planning to use these for a short session then you might be able to get away with it.

Being a branded pair, the sound is fantastic as always but these are quite an expensive pair of sport headphones so it’s entirely up to you to decide whether to go for them or not.

PMX 60

When checking out the PMX 60s, you’ll notice that these don’t look like your typical gym earphones. In fact, they look very simple and are only available in black colour. While the neckband design is still there, there is a major different to some of the products we’ve already discussed.

The PMX 60s aren’t made in an in-ear style but rather on-ear cups are utilized for the creation of this product. This can either be an advantage or a disadvantage depending on what you prefer. All I know is that the on-ear style can also put pressure and take the responsibility for causing ear fatigue. However, I guess this will occur on extended usage rather than straight away. I think that you’ll probably start to experience some ear pain after an hour or two of use. This isn’t great when you consider the amount you’ll be forking out for this set.

While the comfort and fit is a clear issue with the PMX 60s, the sound quality is great as expected once more. However, a major problem is the leakage of sound which is quite profound. Due to these obvious limitations, I wouldn’t buy these earphones.

Final Summary

Sennheiser Sport Headphones: Best PicksLooking at the above top 5 list, you’re probably thinking of the reason of the exclusion of other popular sets such as the Sennheiser CX 680s. Well, the truth is that these either didn’t have the quality to feature or we felt that they didn’t provide a great value. For this reason we can’t recommend these sets to you.

In terms of the 5 products we’ve reviewed, the only ones I can honestly recommend are the Sennheiser CX 685 Sports. These are associated with a great fit and the delivery of fantastic sound quality. Furthermore, they’re very modestly priced.

With the exception of this model, I don’t think the rest of the Sennheiser sport headphones are that great. Hence, you may be able to find a more suitable product if you look elsewhere.
